Rid fear through faith

Most of us have some fear or the other. Some fear loneliness, some fear darkness, some fear cockroaches, some fear failure etc. Fear is our constant companion from the time we are born. Some fears, like fear of our own conscience, are desirable while most other fears are not. It seems that most of us also are unwilling to let go of our fears. Even when we see a possible solution to get rid of our fears, we are unsure whether it will work. Everything we do only seems to make the fear stronger. There are some minor fears that could be rid through actual exposure to the fear factor. Most fears, however, are deeply imprinted in our subconscious mind. They cannot be dislodged easily.

The first step, of course, is to identify what we fear. Care should be taken not to mistake the symptom from the root problem. For example, fear of cockroaches is not just the fear of the insect. It is the fear of what the insect can do to us. Can it bite us? Does it spread disease? Ultimately, it is the body’s method of protecting against the unknown risks. Once the root cause is identified, steps should be taken to address it.

The biggest fear that we all have is the fear of death. This fear is illogical because we all intellectually know that death is inevitable. Yet, we have some false hope that it will not happen to us or that the manner in which life leaves us is the least painful and the most convenient.

In my view, the best way to rid ourselves of fear is by having faith in the Almighty. If we consider ourselves as God’s children then we should also have the faith that God loves us and will take care of us. If we leave the uncertainty, the risks, the future, our security and even our death to His judgement and to His decision, we rid ourselves of the fear simultaneously. Fear will persist only if we do this half heartedly or if our faith is weak. Have faith in His abilities. Have faith in His compassion. Have faith in His fairness. Then you never have to fear anything or anyone anytime again.

"Why fear when I am here?" - Sri Sathya Sai Baba

"I have not ceased being fearful, but I have ceased to let the fear control me. I have accepted fear as a part of life, specifically the fear of change, the fear of the unknown, and I have gone ahead despite the pounding in the heart that says: turn back, turn back, you'll die if you venture in too far" - Erica Jong

"Faith is the strength by which a shattered world shall emerge into the light" – Helen Keller

The quote, 'why fear..' inspires thousands world over to work on individual spiritual growth and move closer to God. Baba says, 'The greatest fear man can have is the fear of losing GOD's Love'. More often we are blissfully unaware of this fear and get entangled with other silly fears! Indeed, the sole fear should be fear of SIN !

I feel fear is a deterrent from wrong things. We should be afraid of the consequences of our actions if they are wrong.Imagine a world without fear. But baseless fear of the unknown can be rid only thro the faith in God

This is one good message about the fear of death..

Many of us won't have the courage to think about the “death”. We need to have a constant awareness that we are marching towards our death which is inevitable.

We all need to realize that, death is an one time opportunity given by God to make us to realize the gift of this LIFE.... Whoever understand this and got the courage to accept this reality, this life seems to be more meaningful and they live the life to the core.

I am one such example. In my early days I don't have the courage to think about death in my life. When ever and where ever it happens along my life side, I always think it is not suppose to happen to us . I always think death happens at our door step and not for us. I avoid thinking about that.

Many a times when I was alone, I used to think the other way, "How it could be if I am not going to die for ever?" Then slowly I start realizing, if that is the case, I don't have value to this life itself.

Awareness about the death makes our life more meaningful, but the thing is we all need to realize this at the early stages in our life..

When I think about life I remember the words of Jaime Cohen’s “The funny Thing about Human Being”

A man asked our friend Jaime Cohen: 'what is the human being's funniest characteristic?'

Cohen said:' Our contradictoriness. We are in such a hurry to grow up, and then we long for our lost childhood. We make ourselves ill earning money, and then spend all our money on getting well again. We think so much about the future that we neglect the present, and thus experience neither the present nor the future. WE LIVE AS IF WE ARE NEVER GOING TO DIE, AND DIE AS IF WE HAVE NEVER LIVED.’

Thanks for such a nice message..

As you say, Vish, the solution is complete submission to God, and faith that he will take care! It really works like a charm. I try.

We are all here to play our respective roles in life.During this course we face fears of every kind. But I believe that complete faith in the almighty can make us overcome fear of any kind. One must not allow fear to grow bigger than faith.
Fear can keep us up all night long but faith makes one fine pillow..

Human mind is vulnerable to fear when the individual thinks that they are alone. Spirituality besieges the human mind defending it from fear.Thats how to my knowledge the relation between man and god works.

Nice post :)
